Each year, the Academic Year Program places about 500 foreign exchange students with volunteer American host families for the academic school year or a semester. Nacel Open Door is listed by the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET) and is designated by the U.S. Department of State as a J-1 Exchange Visitor Program SponsorLocal Representatives act as the primary link between our exchange students, host families and local high schools.
Responsibilities include recruiting host families, conducting in-home interviews, obtaining school permission and supporting st! udents, families and schools during the program. Duties includ! e: Recruiting new host families and guiding them through the completion of their host family applications. Matching students, as best as you can, with the host families you have recruited and that have been fully-vetted and selected for participation. Obtaining school permission for students and conducting home interviews with potential host families.Conducting orientations and monthly contacts with students and host families and maintaining good relationships with students and host families throughout A qualified candidate will be interested in cross-cultural education, be outgoing, and have a flexible, positive attitude.
Local representatives must feel comfortable approaching schools, churches, organizations, and individuals in order to identify suitable hosts. The ideal candidate is highly organized, resourceful, a good judge of character, connected to his/her community and has experience working with students.This is a great opportunity for those looking for a ! flexible job on either a full or part-time basis, or for those seeking supplemental income. Local Representative payment per student for a 5 month duration is $500 and 10 month duration is $1000. Please note that this is a contract position.
