Notifies or locates customers with delinquent accounts and attempts to secure payment by performing the following duties.

Essential! Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Apply payments to customer accounts through Accounts Receivable module for all companies.
  • Mails form letters to customers to encourage payment of delinquent accounts.
  • Confer with customers by telephone in attempt to determine reason for overdue payments and review terms of sales, service, or credit contracts.
  • Record information about financial status of customer, conversation notes and status of collection efforts into Great Plains software.
  • File liens, small claims, and claims against bonds as needed and within appropriate time frames.
  • File satisfactions when liens and judgments are paid.
  • Sign lien waivers.
  • Gather information on past due customers via internet.
  • Sort and file all correspondence received and sent by/to customers
  • Attempt to repossess merchandise, such as automobile, furniture, and appliances when customer fails ! to make payment, either through our company attorney or by fil! ing an execution of judgment at sheriffs office.
  • Process write-off requests.
  • Conduct quarterly past due meetings with Sales Representatives, President, CFO, and Controller.
  • Notify appropriate Sales Representative if customer fails to follow through on promises.
  • Grant extensions of credit by processing credit applications.
  • Follow up on credit and bank references listed by potential customers on credit applications.
  • Assist in recording cash payments received at all locations.
  • Managing credit balances on customer accounts.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Two year Accounting degree from college or technical school or
  • Three to six months related experience and/or training or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar at the l! evel required to perform all essential functions of the job, including:
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals.
