**JOB SUMMARY**
Works with hybrid medical record and understands complexity of record types and locations of various documents. Manages requests for medical record information from patients, third party payers and others. Familiar with legal requirements and established procedures which govern release of information. Completes requests within established turnaround standards. Interacts with customers both in person and via telephone. Works in stressful environment with high customer demands and stringent turnaround requirements. Work requires prioritization based on deadlines. Assists in customer service area as needed. Familiar with laws and regulations governing release of information, and the content of the medical record. Knowledge of completion of medical record, anatomy and physiology, disease processes, and medical terminology. Work is extremely detailed and requires a high accuracy rate to meet legal requirements. Must work confidently as an individual or part of a team. Must uphold high ethical standards and always be cognizant of the patient's right to privacy. Must have excellent organization skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to interact with a variety of customers demonstrating poise, tact and professionalism at all times. Familiar with HIPAA privacy and security regulations. Individual will work extensively with protected health information and is required to adhere to HIPAA privacy and security regulations and policies related to same.
**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**
Responsible for fulfilling release of information requests received from patients, attorneys, insurance companies and other healthcare entities. See job description for further details. This full time position will be day time hours, Monday-Friday.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
Associate degree in Health Information Technology or other healthcare field preferred. Prior work experience in HIM Department related to record maintenance completion or release of information preferred. Applies professional medico-legal training in all aspects of work. Familiar with laws and regulations governing release of information, and the content of the medical record. Knowledge of completion of medical record, anatomy and physiology, disease processes, and medical terminology. Work is extremely detailed and requires a high accuracy rate to meet legal requirements. Must work confidently as an individual or part of a team. Must uphold high ethical standards and always be cognizant of the patient's right to privacy. Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute. Must have excellent organization skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to interact with a variety of customers demonstrating poise, tact and professionalism at all times. Familiar with HIPAA privacy and security regulations. Individual will work extensively with protected health information and is required to adhere to HIPAA privacy and security regulations and policies related to same.
