Job Description:
Position Reports to: Eastern Regional Sales Manager
The Market Development Representative position is responsible for managing all Dealer organizations or other points of whole sale distribution in an assigned territory. The incumbent will develop an in-depth understanding of all markets in the territory that pertains to company product lines or relevant industry. The incumbent will also develop a strong working relationship with Dealers to establish a Marketing plan that will accomplish business goals for these product lines in this territory.
EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED:
None. May provide work direction to Market Development Representatives, Accounting, Production, Service and Ag Engineering teams.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Managing the Dealer/Distribution Organization
1. Evaluate and maintain dealer network in designated territory. a. Rate and categorize dealers according to Sales Evaluation b. Prioritize and identify dealers c. Train all Products
2. Keep all territory dealer actions current including a. Sales Orders b. Return Goods Authorizations c. Transfers d. Accounts Receivable issues (coordinated with Accounting Department) e. Warranty issues (coordinated with Service Department)
3. Implement Sales Programs using resources of Sales Department a. Schedule timely "calls" on dealers by Sales b. Develop dealer plan i. Recommend order based on history and area. ii. Identify additional products for dealerships use iii. Layout strategic demo plans
4. Receive and handle Product and Sales calls from territory dealers and customers
5. Identify and lead strategic marketing actions a. Product focus meetings b. Dealer and customer interaction c. Customer focus activities d. Farm Shows
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. The incumbent will work closely with Sales Management and Marketing to design and implement a marketing strategy to introduce or expand the sales of these product lines to new markets and new distribution channels if the existing distribution channel is not present or unwilling to support the sales of such products.
2. Understand current and future product needs of the customer and communicate those needs to Engineering and Research and Development departments. This can be achieved by communicating directly with end-users, MDRs, Dealers, or competitive product research.
3. Develop and maintain a significant "professional presence" throughout the entire Agricultural community, generally contributing to company image as the industry's leading manufacturer of these product lines.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education and/or experience in large Ag account management.

: A general working knowledge of the Agricultural and Industrial Markets in the assigned Territory. : Good to exceptional marketing and business development skills balanced with a strong understanding of new market development. : Comprehensive to exceptional understanding of all identified consumer needs as it pertains to these product lines. : Solid to superior skills in judgment, decisiveness, analysis, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent negotiating and influencing skills. : Proficient in Windows environment using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Internet Explorer. : Ability to work effectively in a team environment and effectively demonstrate team building attitude and skills. : Ability to reason, judge, compare, calculate, evaluate and critique such information as written materials, numerical data, responses to customer needs and/or other work related activities. : Ability to complete work in an acceptable timeframe and manage a variety of detailed tasks and responsibilities simultaneously and with accuracy to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives and satisfy internal and external customer needs related to the job. : Ability to understand and explain various subject matter and consult on concepts, programs, terminology and methods. : Ability to operate the telephone and respond to calls and in-person inquiries. : Ability to successfully interact with and represent the organization to staff, officers, board members, customers, industry specialists, and the public at all levels. : Ability to travel by auto or commercial transportation to carry out essential responsibilities.
