Principal Tax Planning and Research Specialist The candidate will responsible for a wide variety of duties required to provide tax analysis, research, and! support to company and its subsidiaries to drive value for the customer and shareholder. Will research and analysis in support of tax planning assignments and strategies. Development of supporting analysis for tax controversy matters. Develop responses to document and data requests for tax audits primarily, federal income tax. Communicate with personnel at each of the companies that comprise company tax information. Manage and support others in tax planning projects. Participate in annual, cost-effective Continuing Professional Education, where applicable. Other special projects as assigned. Develop positive relationships with all levels of the company including Senior Leadership. Maintain appropriate level of communication and relationship with external auditors and federal taxing authorities with respect to tax issues. Such communications could extend to other levels of taxing authority.
The candidate should have Bachelor Degree in Accounting. MPA and/or J.D. de! gree is strongly preferred. Must have 5-8 years of tax experie! nce or an equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA certification desired. Thorough knowledge of tax law and accounting in specialized fields (such as Utility, Independent Power Producer, Oil and Gas, and Mining). Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed. Must have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software. Experience with general ledger packages such as PeopleSoft would be beneficial.
