With 55 offices and over 740 attorneys, Jackson Lewis is seeking an ERISA Associate for the Rapid City office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide advice and counsel to employers concerning the plan document and operational compliance aspects of ERISA employee pension and welfare benefits plans; executive compensation arrangements and the federal tax issues relating to same.
- Participate in the growth of an ESOP transaction and operat! ional compliance practice
- Defend employers against In! ternal Revenue Service; Health and Human Services; and Department of Labor audits; ERISA plan litigation; and in defense of penalties imposed under Federal tax laws, ERISA and Affordable Care Act.
- Conduct due diligence reviews of employee benefit plans, executive compensation arrangements and payroll practices
- Drafting employee benefits, executive compensation and defined compensation plans
- Appear and litigate in federal courts and the US Tax Court on ERISA and federal tax litigation matters
- Juris Doctorate (also preferred is a LLM in tax or employee benefits or commensurate experience working in the areas of employee benefits and tax
- 0 - 4 years of experience in the area of employee benefits and tax related to such benefits
- 0 - 4 years of experience with Federal agency procedures and regulations
- Experience is preferred, but newly graduated attorneys will be considered for this position
- Excellent writte! n and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Commitment to client service and willingness to work in a performance-demanding environment
