Responsible for achieving and maintaining a Safe Quality Food (SQF) 2000 and perform all tasks associated with food safety and q! uality assurance in a safe and environmental friendly manner.

Essential Functions

Conduct biological/ microbiological tests & laboratory analyses in support of quality control.
Perform experimental procedures.
Assist in conducting research & surveys.
Collect data and samples.
Operates laboratory instruments.
Maintain laboratory inventory.
Performs quality checks on analytical procedures and makes necessary adjustments when needed to ensure accuracy of the test(s); daily and/or weekly.
Receives rush samples, prioritizes samples and tests, analyzes samples and reports results in a timely manner.
Enters test results into the laboratory information management system in a timely manner.
Looks for trends in data, recognizes unexpected deviations, performs minor trouble shooting, and alerts Supervisor.
Makes valid conclusions and recommends next steps in routine situations.
Practices safe work habits and maintains work ! area and instrumentation in a clean and orderly state.
Res! ponsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations.
Responsible for timely and accurate test samples.
Accurate and efficient performance of work assignments in the Laboratory, including quality control, competency assessment, proficiency testing, regulatory requirements, and instrument maintenance.
Perform and maintain knowledge and expertise in current and emerging methodologies.
Performs all quality management procedures as required.

Plan, coordinate, maintain and direct activities to ensure SQF 2000 certification is complied with; will work closely with department managers and staff to ensure training, compliance, documentation and proper practices are in place.
Assist and monitor food safety programs.
Champion Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) programs.
Coordinate with Quality Assurance Team Lead/Manager in developi! ng new approaches to solve problems during quality activities.
Coordinate with Quality Assurance Team Lead/ Manager to develop monitoring and evaluations programs necessary to process.
Coordinate with appropriate departments to establish audit frequencies within process.

Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with 2 years QA experience or equivalent combined education and experience level.
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to problem solve and follow up on common injuries
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and set own priorities
Ability to work with entire production team and other departments when required. Also ability to work independently.
Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Comply with all safety rules and procedures.
Report any unsafe conditions to your supervisor immediately.

Proficient personal! computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine dat! a base entry, word processing power point, etc.
